During a recent consultation period, CEOs and MDs of large successful organisations, along with directors of SMEs, were asked to identify the most important skills and attributes they looked for in employees. The results were then collated and aggregated before putting them into a table in order of importance.
The overriding message that came through was that personality and good communication skills were absolutely crucial for success.
Verbal communication came out on top, with teamwork coming second. Also in the top 10 were analysing and investigating (requiring good interviewing skills) and written communication.
